Yes indeed, lots of changes here at GoMojo Central. The site has been through a major upgrade and I'm pleased to say that we're now out of the early beta stage. I hope that you'll like the new look and the new features. Sorry about this very long post!
Changes include:
* new smoother design and lots more icons and buttons instead of plain text links
* A new Music Info page for artists/events, which combines several of the old pages that have now been removed: Visuals, Mobile, CD Hunter and DVD Hunter. No more clicking between categories, all the info on one page. The new Info page is also highly dynamic and the Shop section is much faster to use than the old CD/DVD Hunter pages
* Latest YouTube videos with your selected artist/event now shown on the Music Info page
* Smarter news search, now also including a link to blog search
* Switch between US and UK pages effortlessly to check out different content, no more going back to the home page first
* New date format for releases and gigs showing the month in words. Having two different formats (e.g. 05/12/07 and 12/05/07 for 5th December) depending on whether UK or US was selected may have been clever, but it quickly got confusing when switching regions, so now everyone will see the same format
* When adding a release (album, single, etc.) you can now add information about releases in different regions from the same page, you no longer have to add releases in other regions separately
* Show your top 6 YouTube videos on your profile. Just add the embed codes on the new Profile Videos page
* Edit and add content to GoMojo for all users to share much faster through lots of new links on release lists, gig lists and the Info page instead of having to click your way through the various Contribute menus (you'll still need to go through Contribute for some types of changes/additions)
* Movies Info page also updated to include the functionality of the old Clips and Movie DVD Hunter pages, which have been removed
* Blog posts: Did you know that your GoMojo profile is also a blog? Each time you write a new profile text you can archive the old one and transfer any relevant comments - it's just like blog posts. You can also claim your profile as a blog on Technorati (the blog search engine) and if you tick "Ping Technorati" when you update your profile text, your latest text will automatically be indexed by Technorati as a new post. There was however an issue with indexing of posts and tags. This has now been resolved. Thanks a bunch to Lev from Technorati for his help in diagnosing the problem.
* The Snocap player now appears on the Info page for any band that Snocap have tracks for. The improved Snocap support allows you to browse Snocap stores with matching tracks. You can browse them by clicking on the links that now appear immediately to the left of the player (no links appear if there is only one matching store).
Now it's over to you - please explore the new features and post any comments below. If you find new and interesting bugs, please report them through the Support page at http://www.gomojo.net/support.php
Please help to spread the word of GoMojo, so the community and knowledge base can grow. I've got plenty more features up my sleeve for you to be implemented in the future and don't forget that you can influence how GoMojo develops by getting in touch with comments and suggestions. Invite your friends and let's get this thing flying!
Love,
Casper - creator
